In this styled shoot we took inspiration from the style of Vaudeville, and created a glamor, glitz, and show stopping wedding with the vintage qualities of the 1920’s. Vaudeville was very popular in the US from the 1880’s to the 1930’s. Originally it was comedy without psychological or moral intentions, and it would typically include performances such as magic, dance, stunt performers, burlesque, and more. In our shoot, we wanted to incorporate as many performance spectacles as we could. The Logan Theatre where we took the photos, was built in 1915 and became “The Logan Theatre” in 1922. It still has it’s vintage charm, and we knew it would be the perfect place to capture the feel of the 1920’s.

In addition, the wedding industry is extremely binary, even today. Many publications, blogs, vendors, documents have binary language. Many vendors are not educated about gender pronouns. Marketing for weddings is also binary - there are often photos of white, straight, cis-gendered couples on social media and publications. When LGBTQ+ people and people of color don’t see themselves represented it can make wedding planning very challenging.
