Cuban/Puerto Rican Styled Shoot
This shoot was all about connecting back to my family’s culture. I am a Cuban American who grew up in Miami. The culture, the flavors, the colors, and my abuela have all influenced the kind of design that I love, and execute at Fierce Productions. I have live in Humboldt Park for years; a neighborhood in Chicago with a strong Puerto Rican presence, and I really wanted to celebrate my culture, and the culture of my neighborhood in the styled shoot. The main inspiration were the the bright colors, and tropical life of Havana, Cuba.
WHAT WAS FIERCE ABOUT THE SHOOT?
Grabbing a team of LatinX vendors was super important to me. When we were doing the shoot, everyone was speaking Spanish while we were blasting salsa music. It just felt like home. Also the car! I really wanted a vintage car to showcase during the shoot. I ended up showing a Pinterest image of a classic Buick to my friends, and they said “Oh we just bought one!” It was amazing luck! Also our models were an actual Puerto Rican/Cuban couple!
