Chicago Summer Styled Mini Party at the Joinery!
Chicago Summer was CANCELLED this year in every way. Celebrations, weddings, and beloved Chicago festivals! I mean let’s face it, Chicago Summers are the only reason we all put up with the horrible winters, am I right? Haha! I don’t know about you all but when I found out the beaches weren’t going to be open I almost had a meltdown. So we at Fierce decided to bring Chicago Summer to US!
The inspiration for this styled shoot Chicago themed party came immediately after we found out that Chicago Pride Parade 2020 was going to be cancelled. I had this vision of turning my car into a float and having my own parade. And that’s exactly what we did. With a car wash, gorgeous rainbow balloon garlands from Bubbly Events Chicago and a FIERCE Drag Queen we had ourselves a mini Pride parade in front of The Joinery where this mini Chicago themed party took place.
The Joinery felt like the perfect venue for this colorful party. I wanted to celebrate the colors of the Pride and Trans flags but also wanted a fun colorful summery palate inspired by the container bar at the Joinery’s backyard patio. The Joinery has such a cool outdoor patio space that’s great for hosting outdoor events like weddings and celebrations and we wanted to show it off! And how amazing does the tiki set from Bowery and Bash look against the ivy wall?!
In addition to Pride, I was very sad when I found out Ravinia was cancelled! My husband and I go every single year and bring a whole picnic set up and lounge under the trees. So I figured, since we were already throwing a Pride parade why not also celebration music and food! For the Ravinia component of this styled shoot, we brought in a world class violinist to serenade our party-goers while they nibbled on picnic favorites like a crudités and charcuterie from Big Delicious Planet!
And who can have a Chicago summer styled party without Taste of Chicago? This festival is a huge Chicago staple that has thousands of bites from some of our favorite restaurants around the city. So I asked Big Delicious Planet to put together some popular Chicago bites like mini Chicago hot dogs and empanadas. Yum! We also had one of our favorite vendors, Dipsy Desserts join in on the fun with mini popsicles that were adorable and so very tasty. Dipsy Desserts also carries vegan popsicles too!
This shoot was SO much fun to plan, design and style. If you are stumped, stressed or not sure how to celebrate a special occasion this year we’ve done all the planning for you with our curated Little but Fierce Events.
